So I had the craziest dream the other night after this skanky bitch I was tryin to smash walked out on my on the eve of Valentines day. Let’s see if I can arrange the shits as they occurred.
So for some reason I’m sitting at home watching an NBA game. It’s Sacramento vs who knows who. For some reason the Kings have Shaquelle O’Neil, Jawan Howard, Chris Webber and some other cats who have no business being on the team. Crazy thing was they were slaughterhousing (no Joe Budden) the other team.
the best line up
So I’m not sure how or why but I think this made me want to move to Sacramento and of course since I’m dope as fuck in my dreams as well as in real life, I had to go get laced up before I did anything else. So somehow Grand Rapids turned into New York or Chicago and all the buildings were tall as fuck and this dope boutique was on the corner of some street (might as well have been Code 2 Avenue at this point, I was trippin in my dream).
Bang Bang, what up internets? Another episode of Sunday School for ya ass. I know there are some of you loyal readers/listeners and some flippy floppy perusers but this one, this one is special and deserves a look.
I had a pretty decent weekend, lots of reminiscing on the better, more simpler times, so I’ll hit you with a throwback jamski that takes me back.
Act like that isn’t the only other shit Fat Joe was good on (name the other, win a prize). Alright, lets go in, this week we’ve got a few fresh videos from U-N-I and Christian Rich, new music from Fly Union, hysteria surrounding Forever and Jerkin.. of course.
Another weekend of me sorting through your everyday hip-hop internet bullshit and bringing you what I believe deserves the listens and the looks. Why does my opinion matter? Exactly.
God is good, the devil is a motha fucka
This week we got some Jacka, thoughts on Slaughterhouse sales, a surprise visit from Eminem, Israeli and Palestinian relations and a little sprinkle of Dilla, Rae and Havoc.
Man, Hip-Hop be on some stupid and wild shit sometimes. It’s like the internal struggle of man, essentially trying to do good but getting caught up in some bullshit along the way.
This week’s Sunday School we’ll get into the beautiful and the ugly sides of “that old religion” (big ups to Hakes). Hit the jump for some ishkabibble from Clipse, Kooley High, Keelay & Zaire and some beefin fools.
What up ya’ll? Bad news if you haven’t heard yet; Baatin of Slum Village passed away this weekend. Not exactly sure from what but dude had been struggling with a lot of shit when he was away from SV. I was fortunate enough to see him on stage of couple of times the last few months. When he was out in Grand Rapids he wasn’t in top form but at Rock the Bells in the Chi he looked like the Baatin of old. He was only 35 when he passed away. It’s always sad when someone who was a part of something bigger than themselves and truly inspirational passes. The heavens can be selfish sometimes, but hip-hop’s love for him will never be tainted. I’m sure Baatin and Dilla are chillin above the clouds right now.
R.I.P. big homie
Hit the jump for the rest of this week’s Sunday School, with special appearances from Nicki Minaj’s breasts, Joell Ortiz and more from Kooley High.
I know I’ve been slackin ya’ll. I’ve been workin that full time 2nd shift plus 2 other jobs and trying to see my new little nephew whenever I get a chance so I’ve really not been trying to do any additional “work”. So since I’m still working on that most epic Rock the Bells post, I’m gonna hit you with what I should have been doing the last few weeks…. oh shit, another episode of Sunday School.
This week’s update includes new ish from Charlie Smarts, Phresh Heir and Slaughterhouse.
Man, it’s been a minute since I hit you with the Sunday School and I apologize. The summer time just makes dudes lazy it seems like but I do promise to be hitting you guys with some exclusive shit from Rock the Bells and a Slum Village show that we hit up these last few weeks.
Our boy Treezen finally leaked a single we heard at the Wiz Khalifa show which you can download here. It’s called Infinity Beyond and I think it’s pretty ill; big ups to Treezen and Corey Berkowitz, definitely keep an eye out for this kid.
Speackin of Wiz, check out the new video okaaaay. I love when an actual good new artist raps over a beat from one of my favorite old artists so when Wiz spit over Pharcyde’s Runnin’ it became my favorite track on Flight School. I like Wassup just because Code 2 Ave loves fuckin with ignorant shit and we couldn’t stop talking in that fashion after that show… hop up in the caaaarr, put ya seat belt ooooon yeeeeaaaah… but I digress
My current favorite boy band:
The Slaughterhouse album is going to be the only album I buy with real money this year. Me and Bazooka Earl got to see them at Rock the Bells this past Saturday and it was like M.O.P. literally passed the torch to them as my favorite group on stage. If my hip-hop was a living being, it could have died that day and been happy… no homo. Be on the lookout for Woodstock Hip-Hop which will soon be my favorite song for a month.
… I’d still hit Rihanna (no Chris Brown) 5 years probation? Sounds about right
That’s all for now suckas… well actually I need ya’ll help. I’m trying to rename this whole Sunday School shit cause I never really post on Sunday’s anymore and am tired of getting that church traffic and disappointing young mothers. What should I call it?
So Royal, El Capo and the majority of the Code 2 Ave street team are in Boston for the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship this weekend. That leaves me, Jonny D, the treasurer (who has been embezzling our funds), a heart full of sadness and a handle of Skyy vodka to see what kinda of fuckery we can get into. We spent the Saturday afternoon watchin the games on TV, listening to Miles Davis and wearing shudder shades. The night came and we started the pre-game, then after watching Mike Tyson’s funniest moments for a half hour, we hit up campus tryin to get into shit. It all ended with Jonny D calling his girlfriend a white pussy and telling her that he’d fuck her til she loves him. Long story short, I miss college… praise be to Allah.
What’s good in the hip-hop world? Shit, you tell me. You know the boy Drake is prolly bangin it out with Rihanna. Wheel chair Jimmy for the win, no comments from C Breezy as of yet.
Remember last week when I was trying to predict them Mike Jones record sales? I know, fuck me right. Well this week I fucked around and won that shit. I was close as fuck too, almost won $100 for the Code2Ave team, check out the video. Shot outs to Jumpoff.Tv, let’s see if I can make it back to back this week if I can predict Relapse album sales.
If you haven’t yet, check out Guap’s review of Relapse, do so. I thought the album was pretty great. I feel it’s like the album we were all hoping would come out after Proof died. The old raw as fuck Eminem with a rhyme pattern and flow that put him at the top when he came out. So much pain and anger in the lyrics, it’s great. Sean Deez went in on the album as well on Kevin Nottingham’s site. We’ve all been asking where he’s been… let him tell you himself.
Upcoming events include Rock the Bells in Chicago on June 27th, the Slaughterhouse ALBUM dropping on July 7th and me downloading Blackout 2… sleepin, I know. I’m just over here enjoying this Lazy Sunday.
