Asleep in the Bread Aisle – Code 2 Approved

Rating: Presidential - Tight beats, great lyrics, good vibes, nice mix of guests make this album a must have. Asher didn’t dissapoint, haters stop hating, give the kid his props, probably the best whole album I’ve heard in a grip (yeah I said it). Stop downloading, go buy the album, support good music.

Asher’s CD finally dropped as promised on 4/20, and it’s good for the new era in hip hop and he set the bar pretty high.

I was skeptical bout things at first after hearing “I Love College” because that didn’t show much of his lyrical ability, but was catchy and if you went to college it was easy to relate to, it was just an anthem, and really a good lead off single to expose him to a more diverse audience. Really, after hearing the whole album which flows from track to track like the Rio Grande, “I Love College” fits in perfectly.

The feel of the album is Hip hop with a little rock feel and actually pretty soulful at times. The production of the album is great, it has a bunch of different beats, but they all go together. No complaints at all with the sound of the album, and each track can be listened to back to back without skipping over anything.

Lyrically, it’s good to hear Mr. Roth being serious, Greenhouse Effect seemed effortless, but great none the less. In the album you can tell he put effort and time into his songs but keeps his style at the same time. Each song is about something, he’s tellin a story or explaining something. “Be By Myself” talks bout why he’s single, “As I EM” is a response to haters saying he sounds like Eminem, while paying him homage for what Em did to the rap game, and how he’s different, “Bad Day” is bout just that kind of like a look into the everyday life of Mr. Roth. Best thing bout the album is he is real bout everything. He’s not pretending to be something he’s not, which is the case with a bunch of rappers out right now.

The guest spots on the album are great too. The album features: Cee-Lo (Be By Myself), Keri Hilson (She Don’t Want a Man), Chester French (As I Em), Busta Rhymes (Lion’s Roar), Jazzy Pha (Bad Day). All contribute well to the songs they’re on, but don’t outshine Asher the least a bit.

The homie Common is NOT gonna be the Green Lantern in the upcoming Justice League movie!

Why? At first Warner Brothers was looking into developing the script around John Stewart, who was the Black Green Lantern. But after a bunch of corporate bullshit, the movie will be focused on Hal Jordan, the WHITE Green Lantern. At least all you Common lovers can see him in the upcoming Terminator: Salvation, which is going to be sick shit!!!

Remember when Black Eyed Peas were Hip-Hop and not this:

WTF is this shit? What happens to hip-hop artists and their inspiration half the time?!?! They need to regain that hard-on (Si Chester French)!!! In my opinion Fergie ruined this group… this used to be my shit, fuck it, it still is!!!!

What up deucer heads? Its your boy Drama with another week of Sunday School.

Drop some quick shits for ya. T.I. is not getting the most jail time in the world for a ridiculous amount of gun charges which I guess is cool. I always love seein famous people not getting the fullest punishment for being involved in some shit, that way they will never learn and I will always stay entertained. Least he’s got the support of the old cats over at Breakfast at Sulimay’s.
Pharrell flipped out on some fans (No Akon). He can spaz when he wants to, I completely understand where he might have been comin from. He was just looking out for the people in front, didn’t want them to get stampeded on like it was a world cup qualifier… too soon?
Andre 3000 billion got arrested for speeding the most… must have been ready to go…. right now. Least he took the title of “Fastest Rapper Alive” from Twista.

Hot new ish from Chester French, big ups to my new love interest “girl in video”. Think she might be Willa Holland. If anyone can confirm, that would be awesome. Here’s She Loves Everybody

Lemme share something that you may not have heard of, kinda old but still great. The Strange Fruit Project is soooo slept on. The Healing is one of my favorite albums of all time. Peep the video. Wish they would have done a video for You (The Only Ones) or Special, still this is another great track from The Healing. Let me know what you think.
