Blu x Charles Hamilton x Drake

 Blu - HerFavoriteColo(u)r.

Blu – HerFavoriteColo(u)r.

I get the concept of HerFavoriteColo(u)r. and yes indeed it is chill as fuck; but there just isn’t enough Blu on this. Out of 14 tracks he might have spit 10 verses but those few verses did bring that same smooth Blu style he brought on Below the Heavens and his Johnson and Jonson project. That smooth no breathe style with those lyrics you can just bug out to man, dude can spit. And the beats, on some 9th wonder meets early Kanye ish. Sampled from the earliest soul type of feel on it. All in all some great background music with some great lyrics sprinkled here and there. Things working against it are some of the interlude type shit. Though they progress the story, I just feel like some ain’t necessary. But in a time where the new Hip-Hop is looking to the future, the kid Blu is diggin up the roots.

“I said we’ll never be the same, I wonder if I left my stereo and would you care to let me go, or would you keep me shackled in your chains? I know the game is missin heroes and I started here from zero still this isn’t what I came into obtain”

Charles Hamilton – My Brain Is Alive

There is no question that the kid can spit, just effortless with the lyrics on My Brain Is Alive. The title is perfect because he is just spittin, no subject matter what so ever. And he was talkin bout how Lupe don’t make sense…. But yes, the lyrical level on this is amazing but the hooks and choruses completely turn a lot of these tracks into garbage. I was mad about to fuck with High School Reunion with that Ace of Base beat til the hook came in and completely ruined the song. Still there are some gems on this. As stated earlier the new Hip-Hop is embracing other genres and I see a lot of that that in this. Very hard to see Charles Hamilton on a lyrical level, and he’s got multiple nice flows that you don’t see too many in the game fuckin with. Worth a listen for sure.

“Lady Luck is so sweet she made me jizz my jeans, with the lean is how my vision be when I dream, if you receive a minute free from your busy day… listen.. cause I know you wouldn’t anyway”

Drake - So Far Gone

Drake – So Far Gone

I will indeed fuck with this, specially if I can get some strange and bring it home at 2:23am.. The man Royal pinpointed that Houstatlantavegas track, very similar to Cudi and Kanye, maybe sprinkle some Pain in there just for the fuckery effect. I can see myself grindin drunk females at Mojo’s to this so I do like the feel of the R&B tracks on this. If any of the three of these dudes will end up getting spins on the radio, it will be Drake, if he hasn’t already. Just a more polished sound and with the current state of Hip-Hop, he fits in. Being that a good or bad thing is up to you to decide. Def like his R&B tracks better than his other ones. If you like his sound, check out Room For Improvement and Comeback Season too.
